You may see errors similar to: -- err statsd[4908]: 011b0600:3: Error ''/var/rrd/access' is not an RRD file' during rrd_update for rrd file '/var/rrd/access'. -- err statsd[5005]: 011b0600:3: Error '-1' during rrd_update for rrd file '/var/rrd/access'.
Stats are no longer collected. Statsd and rrdshim deadlock, resulting in the issues noted in the Symptoms section.
Corruption of a binary file in /var/rrd.
Remove the corrupted file and restart statsd: bigstart restart statsd
