Opened: Aug 19, 2022

Severity: 4-Minor

Symptoms

When generating a new DNSSEC key stored on an external HSM, sometimes nCipher keys are generated twice.

Impact

Unused and unnecessary objects are taking resources. The more keys are stored in /opt/nfast/kmdata/local the longer it takes to generate a new nCipher key.

Conditions

- Provision GTM. - Create DNSSKEY stored on an external HSM. - The exact scenario when this issue can happen might be due to one of the following condition: - The problem could be caused by slow interaction with netHSM. - Many nCipher keys (more than 1000) are available.
