Opened: Oct 10, 2022

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

ID830361 introduced a regression in how tab completion works in bash for user directories. With the fix of CVE-2012-6711 (ID830361), bash tab completion of ~ is auto-completing it to \~, which is resulting in not listing the directories under ~ and working as expected.

Impact

Tab-completion of user home directories (~username) in bash does not work.

Conditions

This issue is seen on the versions which have fix for Bug 830361 (https://cdn.f5.com/product/bugtracker/ID830361.html).

Workaround

Do not attempt to tab-complete user home directories (e.g. ~root), and instead type out the path completely.
