When using utilities from the iproute2 family (such as ip route or ip link show) in a non-default route-domain, the commands may display incorrect interface names and routing information. Interfaces belonging to the default route-domain (for example, eth0 or lcdusb0) may be shown instead of the correct VLAN interfaces assigned to the active route-domain.
Incorrect or misleading interface and routing information is displayed by iproute2 commands.
This issue occurs under the following conditions: - BIG-IP version 14.1.x or later. - One or more non-default route-domains configured. - VLANs assigned to those route-domains. - Execution of iproute2 utilities (ip route, ip link show, etc.) within a route-domain context. - Most commonly observed on hardware platforms with multiple interfaces.
Use netstat -rn or other BIG-IP–aware utilities to view routing and interface information in route-domains Avoid relying on iproute2 output for interface or routing validation in non-default route-domains.
