Opened: Dec 31, 2024

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

When a configuration change results in error message 01070712 ("Invalid attempt to register an n-stage validator"), any subsequent configuration changes of the same object type succeed without triggering the error or performing the expected validation. As a result, the validation failure is silently ignored for the duration of the MCPD process after the initial occurrence.

Impact

Once the first 01070712 error occurs, the nstage validator for the affected object type is permanently disabled for the duration of the mcpd process. As a result, configuration changes that should be rejected by validation are instead allowed to succeed silently. This can lead to the persistence of invalid or inconsistent configuration states until the mcpd process is restarted

Conditions

This issue may be observed when: - A configuration operation triggers an MCPD log message: 01070712:3: Invalid attempt to register an n-stage validator, the stage must be greater than the current stage, and within the range 1 to 101 inclusive - MCPD has not been restarted since the first occurrence of that message - Subsequent configuration operations on the same object type will silently bypass the validator
