Opened: Apr 27, 2026

Severity: 4-Minor

Symptoms

On every F5 rSeries appliances and VELOS chassis/blade systems running F5OS versions 2.0 or lower, incorrect log messages are reporting firmware update running/completed during reboot or restart. These messages appear even when the system firmware is already up-to-date and is only being loaded.

Impact

Misleading log messages such as "firmware update complete" or "firmware update is running" may make users think that the firmware is updated during every reboot. This causes confusion and unnecessary escalations even when there is no functional impact to the system.

Conditions

This issue occurs when the system boots, restarts, or reboots and loads existing firmware components during initialization.
