Symptoms

The BIG-IP system is inaccessible via SSH or console. Running df shows that the /usr partition is 100% full.

Impact

Remote or console access to BIG-IP is not possible or upgrade failure

Conditions

One of the following: -- Upgrade an iSeries system to BIG-IP 17.5.1.6 -- Upgrade an VIPRION B4450N system to BIG-IP 17.5.1.6 -- Upgrade a vCMP guest, F5OS tenant, VIPRION, VE, or non-iSeries appliance to Hotfix 17.5.1.6.0.39.25-ENG (see https://cdn.f5.com/product/bugtracker/ID2296269.html)

Workaround

See KB article K000161170: https://my.f5.com/manage/s/article/K000161170 For iSeries appliances with an onboard FIPS HSM and VIPRION B4450N, follow option B. For all other systems, use an engineering hotfix with the fix for ID2296269.
