Bug ID 2306641: Dockerd crashes and confd remains unavailable on the affected VELOS system controller

Last Modified: Oct 19, 2026

Affected Product(s):
F5OS F5OS-C(all modules)

Fixed In:
F5OS-C 1.8.2-HR3

Opened: May 28, 2026

Severity: 2-Critical

Symptoms

The dockerd-current process crashes and restarts.

Impact

- dockerd restarts, but confd and other containers remain unavailable. - The affected controller is unreachable via its management IP, but may be reachable via the ccpeer link from the active peer controller. The controller's IP address on the ccpeer link can be determined with the following command: echo "peer controller: $(ifconfig ccpeer | grep -Po '(?<=inet )([^.]+\.){3}')$(( 53 - $(grep Slot /etc/PLATFORM | cut -d':' -f2 | tr -d ' ')))" - A shell on the affected controller displays "Waiting for ConfD" in the prompt. - The active controller reports the peer controller as unavailable or MIA in the output of 'show system redundancy-details'. - The affected controller may become unreachable in the openshift cluster, with intermittent periods of connectivity.

Conditions

Conditions that cause the crash are currently unknown. This is a rare issue.

Workaround

Reboot the affected system controller. This may need to be done via the AOM menu.
