Opened: Jul 08, 2026

Severity: 4-Minor

Symptoms

Trying to use SNMPv3 remotely just results in timeouts. In /var/log/snmpd, the following log message shows that v1-traps or v2-traps are configured. "The separate port argument for sinks is deprecated"

Impact

Unable to use SNMPv3 remotely when v1-traps or v2-traps are configured.

Conditions

v1-traps or v2-traps have been configured.

Workaround

Make note of the v1-traps and v2-traps configuration, and set them to none by using tmsh: `tmsh modify sys snmp v2-traps none` Use either tmsh or the GUI to recreate the v1-traps and v2-traps, but use the generic traps with the correct version `tmsh modify sys snmp traps add`
