Bug ID 2459237: Disk provisioning error does not identify available volume group capacity

Last Modified: Oct 07, 2026

Affected Product(s):
BIG-IP TMOS(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
17.5.1.8, 17.5.1.9

Opened: Aug 13, 2026

Severity: 4-Minor

Symptoms

When module provisioning fails due to insufficient disk space, the system displays a message indicating that the disk limit has been exceeded. This message includes a value representing the available capacity in megabytes. It’s important to note that this value may be confused with the amount of free space available in the /shared file system

Impact

An attempt can be made to resolve the issue by increasing the size of the /shared file system. However, this action reduces the available disk space for module provisioning and does not actually fix the underlying problem; in fact, it may worsen the situation

Conditions

- The system or tenant does not have enough available disk space in the volume group to provision the configured modules - Configuration load or module provisioning fails and reports a disk limit exceeded message

Workaround

- Increase the size of the disk allocated to the system or tenant - Do not increase the size of the /shared file system to resolve this issue
