Symptoms

An i15x00 series platform may experience HSB CRC errors. This is reported in the LTM logs: Mar 13 03:44:25 localhost crit tmm7[28490]: 01010025:2: Device error: hsbe2 hsb_lbb2 hde2_crc_errs count 3010 This results in an high availability (HA) event, either go-offline-downlinks or a reboot depending on the BIG-IP version.

Impact

When this condition occurs, the unit is taken offline, requiring either manual intervention if the high availability (HA) action is to go-offline-downlinks or a disruption of traffic if the high availability (HA) action is reboot.

Conditions

i15x00 series platforms. It's unclear if this issue is specific to configuration, but seems unlikely. This has been seen on v14.1.2.1 with the v5.4.7.0 bitfile and v13.1.3.2 with the v5.3.12.0 bitfile on the i5800 as well. You can view your version by running: tmsh show sys hardware and review the hsb version. Example: ...snip... Name hsb_lbb0 Type net Model F5 High Speed Bridge LBB device Parameters -- -- version Build: 5.4.7 lab 0 Name hsb_lbb1 Type net Model F5 High Speed Bridge LBB device Parameters -- -- version Build: 5.4.7 lab 0 ...snip...

Workaround

A reboot of the unit can clear the issue. The fix for ID1090097 installs an updated firmware that may help with this issue.
