Bug ID 1084785: Etcd database may be corrupted on upgrade to 1.3.1 release.

Last Modified: Jul 11, 2024

Affected Product(s):
F5OS Install/Upgrade, Velos(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
F5OS-C 1.3.1, F5OS-C 1.3.2

Opened: Mar 02, 2022

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

Etcd instance on one of the system controllers may become unresponsive after rolling upgrade to 1.3.1 due to failure to mount drbd partition. System will continue to function, but if the system controller with functioning etcd instance goes offline, the openshift cluster will stop responding.

Impact

No immediate impact, but will cause HA failure if system controller that is not affected goes offline while the etcd instance on the remaining system controller has hit this issue.

Conditions

Rolling upgrade to 1.3.1 release from older software release.

Workaround

Workaround is to re-install the openshift cluster by doing a "touch /var/omd/CLUSTER_REINSTALL" on the active system controller.
