Bug ID 1329125: On scaling TMM or Applications, configuration processing causes BFD sessions to expire

Last Modified: Oct 19, 2025

Affected Product(s):
BIG_IP_NEXT(SPK) SPK(all modules)

Fixed In:
1.9.2

Opened: Aug 09, 2023

Severity: 2-Critical

Symptoms

During scaling of either application pods or f5-tmm pods, F5ingress will send configuration to the TMM processes. This may include both new and existing configuration objects. While processing the configuration, TMM will not process traffic including BFD sessions. If the configuration processing takes too long BFD sessions will expire.

Impact

Traffic processing is interrupted which may cause dropped packets or connections. BFD sessions expire which will cause BGP connections to close.

Conditions

During scaling of either application pods or f5-tmm pods.

Workaround

None

Fix Information

TMM will ignore existing configuration. By avoiding unnecessary work, normal traffic processing will resume more quickly and BFD session will not expire.
