Symptoms

Log messages sent to syslog-ng process, most commonly within /var/log/messages with a message such as the following: slot1/bigip1 notice syslog-ng[2357]: Configuration reload request received, reloading configuration;

Impact

The syslog-ng log messages on VIPRION devices contain truncated hostnames instead of using the complete FQDN.

Conditions

-- VIPRION device (either multi-bladed or single-slot) being utilized -- Hostname contains a period and the log truncates it at the first period.
