iSeries and rSeries systems using the PWR-0306-xx 650W power supply can exhibit false errors that can cause system reboots or alarms. Murata Power implemented a new firmware version to improve the robustness of the UART communications on the PWR-0306-08 power supply to mitigate this issue.
End users may experience system reboots or power supply status warnings/alarms.
650W power supplies with a dash roll number of -07 or older have about a 1% chance of exhibiting the false errors.
If there is a field failure with this issue the recommendation is that the power supply be replaced with a PWR-0306-08 or newer revision.
