Bug ID 1671629: [rSeries r2000/r4000] After F5OS reboot, tenant interfaces might be in UNINITIALIZED state

Last Modified: Aug 19, 2025

Affected Product(s):
F5OS F5OS-A(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
F5OS-A 1.5.2, F5OS-A 1.7.0, F5OS-A 1.8.0

Fixed In:
F5OS-A 1.5.3

Opened: Sep 17, 2024

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

- After F5OS reboot, tenant interfaces might be in UNINITIALIZED state. - Logs from tenant (/var/log/ltm) will show platform_agent receiving blank VLAN names. Example below where vlan id is 1234 (correct) but vlan name is blank (incorrect): info platform_agent[7810]: 01e10007:6: vlan id = 1234vlan name = interface name = 1.3

Impact

Traffic disruption. Since tenants interfaces will be UNINITIALIZED, the tenant will not be passing traffic.

Conditions

- Rebooting F5OS - rSeries r2000/r4000

Workaround

- Remove all the VLANs from the interface (where VLAN names are missing) and re-attach the VLANs. This is to be done from F5OS side. - Rebooting again is also known to resolve the problem (as this is a timing issue on reboot and does not happen frequently)
