Symptoms

BGP and BFD routing sessions flap intermittently when UDP flood DoS protection is active. BFD packets are dropped in hardware by AFM along with other UDP traffic during flood events, causing BFD session timeouts, BGP flaps, and routing instability.

Impact

GP routing instability, network outages, and service disruption

Conditions

This issue occurs when UDP flood DoS protection is configured and triggered on BIG-IP AFM with BFD enabled for BGP routing. During UDP flood events, BFD packets are dropped in hardware along with other UDP traffic.
