Bug ID 2291145: Incorrect system event log (FPGA FW loading) timestamp, appearing before a reboot instead of after

Last Modified: Sep 29, 2026

Affected Product(s):
F5OS Velos(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
F5OS-A 1.8.3, F5OS-A 1.8.4, F5OS-A 1.8.4-HR1, F5OS-A 1.8.4-HR2

Opened: Apr 30, 2026

Severity: 4-Minor

Symptoms

System event logs on F5OS devices with FPGA show the "firmware update is running" event for the FPGA (e.g., atse 1) with a timestamp that appears before the reboot event, even though the firmware loading actually occurs after the reboot. This can mislead users into thinking the firmware update is the cause of the reboot.

Impact

Users may misinterpret the event log, believing the FPGA firmware update is the cause of a random reboot.

Conditions

Occurs during both physical reboots (power cycling via PSU removal/insertion or AOM) and normal software-initiated reboots. The issue is visible in the "system events" log, but not in the platform.log, where the event order is correct.

Workaround

Refer to the platform.log for the correct sequence of events; the firmware update event appears after the boot marker in this log.
