Symptoms

In 11.4.0, a memory leak inside the MCPd process, which would cause memory exhaustion, could occur over time. The leak was only triggered under certain uses of the product and not during all operations.

Impact

The system exhausts all memory resources and eventually is restarted by the operating system, leaving a core containing messages such as 'notice mpi_net_node_deactivate: the node at rank 78 is already deactivated'. The BIG-IP system may experience resource exhaustion and possible failover

Conditions

This issue occurs when BIG-IP add-on modules use the mcpd process to communicate with TMM.

Workaround

None.

Fix Information

The memory leak no longer occurs in the MCPd process, so that the previously memory exhaustion no longer occurs.
