Symptoms

Executing a PUT request on a virtual server to add a rule to that virtual server can fail. For example, a PUT of {"rules":["example_rule"]} to the URI: https://<<big ip address>>/mgmt/tm/ltm/virtual/~Common~examplevs would fail with code 400 - unexpected argument.

Impact

You cannot set a rule on a virtual server using iControl/REST.

Conditions

This always happens for valid rules and virtual servers.

Workaround

Rules can still be set using tmsh and iControl/SOAP.

Fix Information

You can now set a rule on a virtual server using iControl/REST.
