Bug ID 429254: LTM Policy 'http disable' action

Last Modified: Oct 17, 2023

Affected Product(s):
BIG-IP LTM(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
11.4.0, 11.4.1

Opened: Aug 29, 2013

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

In LTM Policy, there is an action to disable parsing and processing of HTTP requests called 'http disable.' The expected behavior when this action is triggered is to disable processing at the HTTP filter level, have the HTTP filter become a pass-through. With HTTP processing disabled, iRules will no longer see HTTP-specific events, such as HTTP_REQUEST and HTTP_RESPONSE. In certain older versions, LTM Policy will actually reset the client connection when 'http disable' is triggered instead of going to this pass-through mode.

Impact

Clients will see connections reset instead of having requests pass through to the backend server.

Conditions

Virtual server has an LTM Policy attached with an action of http disable.
