Symptoms

Java Application Tunnels do not work when Microsoft Internet Explorer runs with Enhanced Protected Mode.

Impact

Enhanced Protected Mode (AppContainer technology) in Internet Explorer 11 prevents interception of connection requests. App Tunnels cannot redirect traffic to proxy running on loopback address.

Conditions

By default Internet Explorer 11 starts in Enhanced Protected Mode and the browser process runs inside AppContainer.

Workaround

Option 1. Disable Enhanced Protected Mode in Internet Explorer 11. Option 2. Add backend server to Trusted or Intranet Sites List.

Fix Information

Java Application Tunnels now work when Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 runs with Enhanced Protected Mode. However, the tunnel is bound to 127.0.0.1 due to limitations of this mode.
