BIG-IP APM, Install/Upgrade
Known Affected Versions:
11.4.0, 11.4.1
Fixed In:
11.5.0
Opened: Oct 27, 2013 Severity: 2-Critical
When upgrading to 11.4.0, if a client policy has been created with a server host value that contains ( or ), upgrade will fail due to tightened validation. It will produce the following error in the ltm log: 01070734:3: Configuration error: In client-policy (<name>) host value (<value>) is invalid. Unexpected Error: Loading configuration process failed.
Upgrade will not succeed if the conditions above are met.
A client-policy host value contains a '(' or ')' character.
Edit the /config/bigpipe/bigip.conf file, locate the offending client-policy host value and remove any ( or ) characters. Save the file and then run bigpipe daol to finish the upgrade process.
Validation was loosened to accommodate the originally accepted characters for the host property.
