In some cases, the message queue functionality of datastor can lockup, causing TMM to be restarted by SOD.
TMM restarts, as does datastor.
These vary, but include long delays or network instability on the back end, excessive disc activity on the discs that contain the backing store extent and abandoned cache level transitions due to size issues.
While there is no way to guarantee this does not happen, it happens fairly rarely, and the risk can be reduced by utilizing cache entry management through policy control. In the worst cases, turning off backing store support is recommended.
