Symptoms

When you change root password in single user mode, the system posts following error: error: unable to obtain slot from Lights Out Processor (LOP) : send to lopd failed [lopd addr:/var/run/lopdsvr] [client. The root password change succeeds, but root password sync to LOP fails, because LOP is not running in single user mode.

Impact

The root password change is not synchronized to LOP, and the user might fail login to LOP when using the new password.

Conditions

This occurs when changing the root password in single user mode.

Workaround

Repeat the password-change operation in multi-user mode.
