Symptoms

Updating user properties results in 'error occurred' when limiting httpd to AES_256 ciphers.

Impact

The system presents the following error: An error has occurred while trying to process your request." page when attempting to update a user from the 'System :: Users : User List' menu.

Conditions

This occurs when the configuration limits ciphers used by httpd to AES_256.

Workaround

Although the error is largely cosmetic as the update is still applied to the user, you can prevent this error by installing the JCE files (local_policy.jar and us_export_policy.jar) to /usr/java/jre6/lib/security/ and then rebooting the BIG-IP system. By default, the use of AES_256 ciphers by the JRE requires the installation of JCE Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files (see http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/security/SunProviders.html#SunJSSEProvider), which are available here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jce-6-download-429243.html.
