Bug ID 442573: Unicast failover addresses on a device allow duplicates

Last Modified: Jul 12, 2023

Affected Product(s):
BIG-IP All(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
11.4.1

Fixed In:
11.6.0

Opened: Jan 09, 2014

Severity: 5-Cosmetic

Symptoms

Unicast failover addresses on a device in a sync/failover group are allowed to repeat the same IP address.

Impact

None. This is harmless.

Conditions

A device group is configured, and you attempt to set the unicast address to the same address multiple times.

Workaround

Modify the address list so that it no longer includes duplicates. The recommended configuration on appliances is to have exactly two unicast addresses, the configsync-ip as well as the management IP. On VIPRION chassis, see K13915.

Fix Information

Unicast failover addresses on a device formerly were allowed to repeat the same IP address. Duplicates are now automatically removed.
