After loading UCS or configuration file with syntax error, the TMSH command 'reset cm trust domain-all' fails with the following error: Unexpected Error: MCP must be in the running phase to reset the trust domain. Examine the output of `tmsh show sys mcp-state` for failures.
Cannot reestablish trust after error. Resetting the BIG-IP system to factory default is hampered.
This occurs in the following cases: #1: Loading a UCS file that contains a configuration error. This can occur in rare circumstances, such as mismatch of failover unicast and management IP. #2: Installing a license, and the configuration on disk contains the the mismatched IP address error, or another error condition..
If the issue occurs while installing a UCS file, you can restore the prior configuration with the TMSH command 'load sys ucs cs_backup'. You can then proceed to perform TMSH 'load sys config default'. Alternatively, run the following command sequence to return to factory defaults: rm /config/bigip*.conf cp /defaults/defaults.scf /config/bigip_base.conf tmsh load sys config
After loading UCS or configuration file with syntax error, the TMSH command 'reset cm trust domain-all' now successfully completes without the validation error.
