Symptoms

If an alert is configured with both an 'lcdwarn' action and an 'email' action, and the 'lcdwarn' action appears before the 'email' action in alert.conf, processing of the 'lcdwarn' action will truncate the log message that is used for the subject line of the subsequent email message.

Impact

Incomplete information in the Subject line of email alerts.

Conditions

An alert event in alert.conf is configured with both lcdwarn and email actions, with the lcdwarn action appearing before/above the email action.

Workaround

Edit alert.conf to ensure that any lcdwarn actions for any event appear below the email actions for those events.

Fix Information

If an alert is configured with both an 'lcdwarn' action and an 'email' action, the subject line of the email message will now contain complete alert information.
