Bug ID 489514: Excessively large queries can intermittently cause data truncation and error message.

Last Modified: Jul 12, 2023

Affected Product(s):
BIG-IP AAM(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
11.4.1

Opened: Nov 07, 2014

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

Excessively large queries can intermittently cause data truncation and error message.. LTM sends FIN to client side SSL connection (proxy-buffer reached?) when the server side connection has already been closed.

Impact

Download does not complete. When querying very large amounts of data, the proxy buffer might fill up, then the tcp filter buffer fills up, and the data gets truncated with browser errors. The logs contain error messages similar to the following: S>CShort record Unknown SSL content type XX.

Conditions

Exceed proxy buffer size on client side after the server side connection has already been closed.

Workaround

To work around this issue: -- Increase proxy buffer and then failover to newly activated LTM. -- Reduce the query. -- Directly connect to pool member.
