BIG-IP Install/Upgrade, LTM(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:

Fixed In:
12.0.0

Opened: Nov 18, 2014

Severity: 4-Minor

Symptoms

LTM Policy performs a validation of user-supplied host names and domain names to check for valid characters and general format. Previously the validation would pass. After upgrading, you see a validation error "Policy '/Common/test-policy', rule 'test-rule'; invalid url, value 'http://example.com/%^&*()'."

Impact

Certain invalid host and domain names could be used in LTM Policy conditions, but unlikely to ever match valid, real-world data.

Conditions

Specify an invalid host or domain name like: ...... .-.-.hello--.. example..com This can be encountered on an upgrade to 12.0.0 or beyond.

Workaround

Re-enter valid host or domain name.
