Bug ID 498314: vCMP is unable to deploy a 12 vcpu guest on a Viprion B4300 blade, 10 vcpu guest on B2250 blade.

Last Modified: Jul 12, 2023

Affected Product(s):
BIG-IP vCMP(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
11.4.1

Fixed In:
11.4.1 HF7

Opened: Dec 23, 2014

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

vCMP is unable to deploy a 12 vcpu guest on a VIPRION B4300 Blade or the 10 vcpu guest on a VIPRION B2250 Blade. If an attempt to deploy these guests is made, the vcmpd daemon will go into a restart loop after the guest has installed.

Impact

The vcmpd daemon on any blade the 12 or 10 vcpu guest is deployed to will go into a restart loop. This can cause issues with traffic passing for other guests on the same blade as well as impact the manageability of guests on the affected blades.

Conditions

This issue occurs only on B4300 and B2250 VIPRION blades running BIG-IP version 11.4.1-HF6 as the vCMP hypervisor, and only when deploying vCMP guests with a core-per-slot attribute set to 12 or 10 respectively.

Workaround

None

Fix Information

An issue has been resolved which could cause vcmpd to crash repeatedly when processing certain vCMP configurations.
