Symptoms

If the BIG-IP system is deployed behind a web proxy and not directly connected to the internet, the updatecheck and phonehome_activate cron jobs silently fail.

Impact

No update check data is sent to the F5 Networks server, so update check operations cannot complete successfully.

Conditions

The BIG-IP system is sitting behind a webp proxy but not directly connected to the internet.

Workaround

Ensure that the BIG-IP device has an outbound connection to the internet.

Fix Information

The BIG-IP system now uses outbound proxy setting from existing db variables proxy.host, proxy.port, proxy.protocol, proxy.username, proxy.password for the update check and phonehome_activate features.
