Opened: Feb 18, 2015

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

Packets which arrive on a BIG-IP VLAN with equivalent source and destination MAC addresses (for example, Ethernet "Loop" packets with ethernet type 0x9000) are discarded by BIG-IP and are not displayed in tcpdump captures taken on the BIG-IP. Additionally, some packets that are discarded because they match AFM DoS network attack vectors are also absent from tcpdump captures taken on the BIG-IP.

Impact

Lack of insight into what packets have been delivered to a TMM VLAN.

Conditions

These types of packets sent to a BIG-IP on a TMM VLAN.

Workaround

None

Fix Information

Packets matching these criteria now appear when inspecting the output of tcpdump on a BIG-IP.
