Symptoms

When an external monitor is configured, the monitor timeout settings are low enough, the probes time out, and the DB variable 'gtm.checkpendingmonitor' is set to 'disable' then GTM may send probe requests to big3d even if a probe is still pending, which can result in the system run out of memory and reboot.

Impact

The system runs out of memory and reboots.

Conditions

When many external monitors are configured, the monitor timeout settings are low, many probes time out, and the DB variable 'gtm.checkpendingmonitor' is set to 'disable'.

Workaround

Setting the DB variable 'gtm.checkpendingmonitor' to 'enable' will cause GTM to skip sending a probe request when one is still pending. setdb gtm.checkpendingmonitor enable
