Bug ID 512670: Bad packet routing prevents TMM from starting up

Last Modified: Jan 16, 2024

Affected Product(s):
BIG-IP LTM(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
11.4.1, 11.6.0, 12.1.0 HF1, 12.1.0 HF2, 12.1.1 HF1, 12.1.1 HF2, 12.1.2 HF1, 12.1.2 HF2

Fixed In:
12.0.0, 11.6.1, 11.5.3, 11.4.1 HF10

Opened: Mar 16, 2015

Severity: 2-Critical

Symptoms

TMM fails to start up with a semaphore error message similar to: Mar 13 10:55:28 slot1/bigip1 err tmm[12618]: 010f0001:3: semaphore already released: Resource temporarily unavailable

Impact

TMM is unavailable.

Conditions

TMM is in the process of starting.

Workaround

None.

Fix Information

During startup phase, if CMP packets are mis-directed to the wrong TMM, (e.g.: TMM0 sends "ready" to TMM1 and 2, but both arrive at TMM2) then TMM2 tries to release its semaphore twice, resulting in this error message. The fix is to correctly route packets.
