Symptoms

Accumulated license limits for the any of following features might exceed the platform's capabilities. -- apm_access_sessions -- apm_sessions -- apm_urlf_limited_sessions This might cause APM to destabilize when running at its upper limits.

Impact

Any of these three features will show an increased value in /config/bigip.license: -- apm_access_sessions -- apm_sessions -- apm_urlf_limited_sessions Clients attempting to access features of APM will be returned server errors. The TMMs on the BIG-IP system might begin to destabilize and log error messages.

Conditions

This happens when applying a combination of any add-ons for Base APM and Max Access Sessions (or Max CCU).

Workaround

Renew the current license using the GUI or any of the available commands, such as 'tmsh install sys license'. This retrieves an updated F5 Networks license file, which contains the correct limits for APM, irrespective of the combination of APM add-on licenses currently applied to the BIG-IP.
