Symptoms

Importing more than 2048 keys to the on-board Cavium FIPS HSM card will fail with error ""private f5km_fips_get_keys failed: -18".

Impact

Depending on the condition, either the conversion operation will fail or it will lead of config-sync failure as a result of this error on the standby device.

Conditions

Two ways to trigger: 1. Conversion of more than 2048 normal keys to FIPS security-type. 2. Creation of more than 2048 FIPS keys in a HA setup. Standby BIG-IP will experience this error.

Workaround

None.

Fix Information

The import of keys into FIPS HSM will work now for the maximum number supported by the on-board HSM.
