Bug ID 584178: Internal higig interface on B2250 blade may not come up after reboot when L4 FPGA firmware is loaded

Last Modified: Sep 13, 2023

Affected Product(s):
BIG-IP TMOS(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
12.0.0, 12.0.0 HF1, 12.1.0 HF1, 12.0.0 HF2, 12.1.0 HF2, 12.0.0 HF3, 12.0.0 HF4, 12.1.1 HF1, 12.1.1 HF2, 12.1.2 HF1, 12.1.2 HF2

Fixed In:
12.1.0

Opened: Mar 30, 2016

Severity: 2-Critical

Symptoms

When L4 performance FPGA firmware is used on B2250 blade, occasionally some internal higig interfaces among 4.1~4.4 may not come up after system reboot.

Impact

Performance will be degraded as each downed 4.x link will reduce system throughput by 40G.

Conditions

L4 performance FPGA firmware is selected and loaded on B2250 blade.

Workaround

Most of the time run "bigstart restart bcm56xxd" will fix the higig link issue.

Fix Information

In this release the following device warning messages will be logged to /var/log/ltm to remind you to take a look at 4.x interface status: 1. Device warning: HSBe2 XLMAC initial recovery failed after 11 retries. 2. Device warning: HSBe2 higig mac[2] shows hgm_xgmii_errs: 1.
