Symptoms

After installing v12.1.0 on a vCMP host system the guests don't start anymore and remain in "failed" state. Errors similar to these are logged in the ltm log file: Jun 10 08:17:22 slot1/VIP4480-R68-S26 crit vcmpd[14354]: 01510003:2: User "qemu" doesn't exist <..> Jun 10 08:17:22 slot1/VIP4480-R68-S26 err vcmpd[14354]: 01510004:3: Guest (test-guest): Failure - Error starting VM. Jun 10 08:17:22 slot1/VIP4480-R68-S26 info vcmpd[14354]: 01510007:6: Guest (test-guest): VS_STARTING->VS_FAILED

Impact

After installing v12.1.0 on a vCMP host system the guest don't start anymore and remain in "failed" state.

Conditions

Upgrade vCMP host to v12.1.0 or higher vCMP host system was originally installed with v11.6.0 or older builds.

Workaround

Workaround is to run the following command: useradd -r -u 107 -g qemu -G kvm -d / -s /sbin/nologin -c "qemu user" qemu then: bigstart restart vcmpd
