Symptoms

BIG-IQ validates the MTU with a max of 9000, however there are some versions and platforms that support greater values. See this SOL: https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/6000/300/sol6399.html When BIG-IQ attempts discovery of a device with a VLAN MTU greater than 9000 import will fail.

Impact

BIG-IQ cannot import BIG-IP into ADC and cannot manage ADC for those devices.

Conditions

BIG-IP with VLAN MTU greater than 9000 is configured.

Workaround

Reduce the MTU to 9000 or lower.

Fix Information

BIG-IQ validates the MTU with a max of 9000, however there are some versions and platforms that support greater values. BIG-IQ previously failed to import values greater than 9000. Now, BIG-IQ can discover a VLAN with a larger MTU value.
