Symptoms

'SELinux targeted policy relabel is required' message appears at initial bootup. The system posts messages similar to the following: *** Warning -- SELinux targeted policy relabel is required. *** Relabeling could take a very long time, depending on file *** system size and speed of hard drives.

Impact

The indication of a 'warning' might be concerning. However, there is no impact to the functionality of the system. SELinux relabel always happens on first boot. It is a necessary and planned task and should be reported as an informational message instead of a warning.

Conditions

Install new software, reboot, watch the console.

Workaround

None needed. This is a cosmetic issue only.

Fix Information

The SELinux relabel task message is now just an informational message.
