Symptoms

The mcpd daemon fails with a segment fault (SIGSEGV) during teardown of connections with a high availability (HA) peer. The system logs messages similar to the following to /var/log/ltm: warning mcpd[4822]: 01071aea:4: CMI heartbeat timer expired, status: 192.168.254.253.

Impact

The mcpd daemon restarts, possibly resulting in other daemons restarting as well, with momentary disruption of control-plane operations.

Conditions

-- Connection with HA peer node is discontinued. -- Heartbeat timer expires.

Workaround

There is no workaround at this time.

Fix Information

The system now handles this condition, so the issue no longer occurs.
