Attempting to back up over 500 BIG-IP devices fail with no error returned in the user interface. The restjavad logs have an error similar to: [WARN][11 Dec 2017 15:31:20 EST][ LogUncaughtExceptionHandler] Uncaught exception on thread 42 com.f5.rest.workers.storage.ShortTransactionRequestProcessor: java.lang.StackOverflowError
No backups are created.
This issue occurs when attempting to backup more than 500 BIG-IPs in a single task and the devices are selected individually and not by a device group.
The issue can be avoided by doing a group backup instead of selecting all the devices individually. Alternatively, the backups can be broken into groups of fewer than 500 BIG-IP devices.
