Symptoms

The dig command returns no record with SOA from the parent zone even though dnsxdump shows that the record exists.

Impact

DNS can not resolve records correctly.

Conditions

-- Parent zone has a record containing - (a hyphen) and the preceding characters match the child zone. For example, myzone.com -- parent foo.myzone.com -- child -- In myzone.com, you have a record of the following form: foo-record.myzone.com

Workaround

None.

Fix Information

DNS now handles the case in which the parent zone has a record containing - (a hyphen) and the preceding characters match the child zone.
