Opened: Sep 18, 2018

Severity: 2-Critical

Symptoms

High traffic, e.g., using SCP to copy a file (not ping), to a self IP address that is assigned to a tunnel on BIG-IP Virtual Edition (VE), is not reliable. Many retransmissions are seen, which slows down the rate.

Impact

Low data rates passing through the self IP address assigned to that tunnel.

Conditions

-- Self IP address is assigned to a tunnel. -- BIG-IP VE. -- High traffic is going through the self IP address. Note: This does not occur when using ping; a high-rate TCP task is required to show the problem.

Workaround

Disable LRO / GRO on both guest and host for NICs in the traffic path.
