Opened: Sep 21, 2018

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

ePVA hardware may not notify software about the traffic stats in time. The delay can be more than 5 seconds on a relatively idle BIG-IP device. So a virtual server with idle timeout lower than 5 seconds might evaluate the traffic as idle with no stats, and drop the connection unexpectedly.

Impact

Traffic gets dropped unexpectedly.

Conditions

-- Virtual servers with idle-timeout lower than 5 set in its profile. -- ePVA-capable hardware: + VIPRION B2100, B2150, B2250, B4300, B4340 blades in C2400 or C2200 chassis + 5000/7000/10000/12000- and i5000/i7000/i10000-series platforms.

Workaround

Set idle-timeout under the virtual server's profile to 10 seconds.
