Severity: 4-Minor

Symptoms

Scriptd creates open files that are never closed by improperly closing sockets before exiting. This eventually results in errors that there are too many open files which can overload the system.

Impact

Constantly increasing use of system resources.

Conditions

Run a large number of iApps on a system for a long period of time. You can determine if you are affected by this by using the following command: lsof | grep scriptd |grep socket |wc -l After it has run for a while you will notice that this number is slowly growing as scriptd processes exit without closing their sockets appropriately.

Workaround

None.
