Known Affected Versions:

Opened: Jan 15, 2019

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

If using a Mellanox ConnectX-3, 4, or 5 as a dataplane NIC in BIG-IP Virtual Edition (VE) with the DPDK driver, the tmm does not support a value greater than 1500 for the MTU on these cards. Attempts to use jumbo frames results in dropped packets.

Impact

Packets greater than 1500 bytes in size are dropped by the device.

Conditions

-- BIG-IP VE with an SR-IOV Virtual Function (VF) from a Mellanox ConnectX-3, 4, or 5 NIC driven by the tmm's DPDK support. -- VLAN MTU greater than 1500 bytes.

Workaround

Do not configure a VLAN MTU greater than 1500 bytes if it contains one of these interfaces.
