Opened: Mar 07, 2019

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

-- The 'top' command shows Java and mcpd becoming CPU intensive. -- /var/log/audit shows many 'modify { user_role_partition { user_role_partition_user ...' -- /var/log/restjavad-audit.0.log shows many REST API calls to 'http://localhost:8100/mgmt/shared/gossip' from the peer.

Impact

High CPU usage (Java and mcpd) on control and analysis plane.

Conditions

-- Create a new admin user with bash access on a device.

Workaround

To work around this issue, follow these steps: 1. Sync from the device where the user was created. 2. Run the following command on all devices: tmsh restart sys service restjavad Although Java and mcpd will still show high CPU usage even after restart, waiting a few minutes enables the processes to return to normal.
